About the University:

The University of Banking is a Ukrainian business school that prepares specialists in the fields of finance and credit. It is accredited in Ukraine with the 4th level of accreditation.

The University of Banking (UBS) was founded in 2006, as a response to the need to create a centralized educational institution, united by a common strategy and tactics, to train highly skilled personnel for the financial and credit system of Ukraine. It was founded on the basis of the Lviv Bank Institute and its affiliate in Kyiv. These were joined by two more institutions that worked as part of the Sumy Academy of Banking in Kharkiv and Cherkasy. Thus, the University united four institutes in Kharkiv, Lviv, Cherkasy and the Institute of Banking Technologies and Business in Kyiv, which had been operating in the market of educational services since 1940. UBS was created by order of the cabinet of ministers of Ukraine of 15.06.2006, № 331-р, on "Some issues concerning the ordering of the network of higher education institutions" and the resolution of the board of the National Bank of Ukraine dated 14.07.2006, No. 265 "On the reorganization of the educational institutions of the National Bank of Ukraine".

On 1 September 2007 it accepted its first master's students in Kiev. Honorable guests attended the celebration, including the head of the supervisory board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, Kateryna Yushchenko, the chairman of the council of the National Bank of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, the chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine, Volodymyr Stelmakh, the minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the people's deputy of the 5th convocation and former minister of finance of Ukraine, Viktor Pynzenyk, and the Patriarch of Kyiv and All Russia of Ukraine, Filaret. In 2013, the Sevastopol Institute also joined the University of Banking, but it had to cease its activities as a result of the annexation of the Crimea, and most of the students and faculty were transferred to other University institutes.

In 2015, the University became an independent educational institution under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
