Yi Shi

Yi Shi earned his Computer Science B.Eng. from Zhejiang University, China. He then received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Computing Science Department of University of Alberta, under supervision of Prof. Dale Schuurmans (AAAI Fellow and Canadian Research Chair) and Prof. Guohui Lin, studying machine learning and bioinformatics. Yi did his postdoc in the University of Southern California under Prof. Michael Waterman (funder of Computational Biology), Prof. Jasmine Zhou and Prof. Frank Alber, researching 3D genome. Yi jointed Shanghai Jiaotong University since 2014 and received multiple national and provincial funding supports. Yi has published about 60 academic papers in the area of bioinformatics, machine learning, and cancer study. In recent years, Yi's research topics include cancer neoantigen prediction and mRNA delivery (both dry-lab and wet-lab), deep sparse neural network machine learning model development, 3D genome (chromatin 3D structure) studies, etc.
