I think it does. I meant to say that the east-west migration help to reduce the economic inequalities between these geographic areas.

So you say now that east-west migration helps reduce inequalities between geographic areas? And that this was implicit in your first answer in which you called for a better redistribution of the gains from migration and compensation to the eastern states? Isn't there a contradiction?

In my point of view, East-West migration has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage belongs to the Western countries because most migrants that are going to those states are actually the labor. The disadvantage is felt by the less developed countries, especially those in Eastern Europe, because most of the young people tend to go abroad because the educational, social and even economic opportunities are higher. But if I were to choose, I would say that migration has a positive impact on the economy of those who receive migrants and a negative effect on the economy of the countries they are leaving.

In my opinion, migration has an important role in Europe. There are many advantages, such as economic growth can be sustained, host countries are enriched by cultural diversity, services to an ageing population can be maintained when there are insufficient young people locally. Migrants arrive with skills and contribute to human capital development of receiving countries and also contribute to technological progress.

I believe that the East-West migration is good for the economy of the E.U. from a holistic point of view. However, it is not that favorable towards the economic convergence. One reason for this is that the poorer economies from the Eastern Europe are losing a significant amount of skilled workers in favor to the more developed West, thus slowing down the catch-up process. Another reason that derives from the first one is that the high trained workforce leaving from the East will result in a lack of personnel in these countries, especially in the most important fields of the society like healthcare, education, justice and finance. To conclude, the East-West migration is bad for the economic convergence at this moment but we believe in a future implementation of new policies that will try to solve this problem.

For Eastern Europeans, the motivation to leave is mainly better jobs and higher pay. Many of these economic migrants are highly skilled and younger than the average person at home. The less effective the government and the weaker the institutions in their home countries, the more likely the young and educated are to seek better opportunities abroad. Due to this, the younger population leaves as the elderly people remain at home, becoming a weak workforce, unable to sustain and expand the economy of their country. In my opinion, the home countries feel the negative impact of migration, and the host countries of migrants enjoy the positive effects of the migration process, as they receive fresh workforce.

In my opinion, migration has at the same time positive and negative effects especially in economy. So, I agree that migration is good, but we have to take into consideration that it can be bad at the same time. We can take for example two different countries that reveal the present situation: Romania and Spain. Romania is gaining a lot from migration, like the money the workers are sending home to their family, money that provide a better way of living. They can also come to Romania with new projects and ideas. Otherwise, we have the other situation of young people leaving our country. This can lead to a lack of staff for the most important sectors like medicine, industry or agriculture, but also of unqualified staff. Spain also has advantages and disadvantages. Even if migrants mean cheap labor force, taxes contributions or skilled people, they have to deal with social services that some migrants are taking advantages of. Racial and ethnic tensions have also become more and more frequently with all these terrorist attacks.
