Since 2009 Emma Lopez Bahut teaches Architectural Design at the School of Architecture in the University of A Coruña (UDC, Spain), nowadays teaching in the undergraduate, master and PhD programs.
She has also taught in the Master of Landscape Architecture (UDC, USC and Juana de Vega Foundation), and previously in the Master of Healthcare and Welfare Architecture (2013, UDC). Dr. Lopez Bahut served as Visiting Faculty in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kent State University (USA), with a research grant from University of A Coruña (from June 2017 to January 2018) to develop the research “Art as a tool in Architect teaching currently”.
She has also participated in the Programme ERASMUS+ Higher Education Mobility for Teaching (STA) in: Politechnika Lubelska, Lublin, Poland (2018); University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Chipre (2017); Universitatea Tehnica Gheorghe Asachi, Iasi, Romania (2016); Fakultat Architektur, Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule, Regensburg, Germany (2015).
Dr. Lopez Bahut currently serves on scientific committees for academic journals, including Co-editor of BAc Boletín Académico [http://revistas.udc.es/index.php/BAC] (2014-present) and Editorial board member of VLC arquitectura. Research Journal [https://polipapers.upv.es/index.php/VLC/index] (2016-present).
Her book Jorge Oteiza y lo arquitectónico. De la estatua-masa al espacio urbano (1948-1960) has been nominated for: the awards Premis FAD Pensament i Crítica (2017); selected for the IV Bienal Española de Arquitectura y Urbanismo 2018.
Currently working on two lines of research: "Space, Art and Architecture", focused mainly on the sculptor Jorge Oteiza. Secondly, her research interest focused on ¿bottom-up¿ processes in the field of architecture, covering their different spatial scales: from landscape to housing.
